Mint Lime Agua Fresca (Print)

A crisp, revitalizing Mexican drink featuring fresh lime juice, mint, and a touch of sweetness.

# Ingredients:

→ Fresh Produce

01 - 1 cup fresh mint leaves, loosely packed
02 - 3 large limes, juiced (approximately 1/2 cup lime juice)
03 - 1/2 lime, thinly sliced, for garnish (optional)

→ Sweetener

04 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar or agave syrup

→ Liquids

05 - 4 cups cold water
06 - 1 cup ice cubes

# Directions:

01 - Combine mint leaves, lime juice, sugar, and 2 cups of cold water in a blender. Blend until mint is finely chopped and sugar has dissolved.
02 - Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove mint solids.
03 - Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water and ice cubes to the pitcher. Stir thoroughly to combine.
04 - Taste the beverage and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or agave syrup as desired.
05 - Serve chilled, garnished with lime slices and additional mint leaves if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It takes less time to make than waiting for store-bought juice to chill, and tastes infinitely cleaner.
  • The mint doesnt just flavor it, it somehow makes the whole drink feel cooler on your tongue.
  • You can adjust the sweetness without guilt because youre the one controlling it, not a factory.
02 -
  • If you dont strain it well, youll end up chewing your drink, which is fine for smoothies but weird for agua fresca.
  • Blend the mint just until its chopped, not pureed into mush, or the flavor turns bitter and grassy instead of bright.
03 -
  • Roll the limes on the counter before juicing them, it breaks up the pulp inside and you get way more juice out.
  • If you want it boozy, a splash of white rum or tequila turns it into something you can sip slowly on a Friday night.
