# Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the dry mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Evenly divide batter between prepared pans and smooth tops.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on racks.
- Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, beating until smooth. Divide frosting and tint one portion pink and another yellow.
- Level cake layers if needed. Place one layer on a serving plate, spread with pink buttercream, then top with second layer. Frost entire cake with yellow buttercream.
- Adorn the cake with heart and star-shaped sugar decorations. Optionally, sprinkle with edible glitter or pearls.
