→ Oatmeal Base
01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
03 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
04 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
→ Spiced Apples
06 - 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
07 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
08 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar
09 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
10 - Pinch of ground cloves (optional)
11 - Pinch of salt
→ Toppings
12 - 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
13 - 1/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts or pecans (optional)
# Directions:
01 - In a medium saucepan, combine rolled oats, milk, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until oats are creamy and cooked through.
02 - Meanwhile, in a small skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves (if using), and a pinch of salt. Sauté for 4-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and lightly caramelized.
03 - Divide oatmeal between two bowls. Spoon spiced apples over the oatmeal. Drizzle each serving with maple syrup and sprinkle with toasted nuts, if desired. Serve warm.
